2023 World Travel Awards were held in Batumi
The 30th edition of the World Travel Awards, one of the most important travel organizations in the world, took place in the city of Batumi, Georgia. While this charming city on the Black Sea hosted such a significant event, the award ceremony garnered a lot of attention.
Portugal stood out as the "Leading Destination in Europe," and Madeira Island was highlighted as the "Leading Island Destination in Europe." Meanwhile, in the hotel industry, the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul was named the "Leading Hotel in Europe." Forte Village in Italy received the award for "Leading Resort in Europe." The title of "Leading Meeting and Conference Center in Europe" went to the Dublin Convention Center.

Graham Cooke, the founder of WTA, which hosts the world's most prestigious travel organization, praised the city of Batumi in the following words during the event:
"It was a privilege to host this historic event in Batumi as part of our 30th-anniversary celebrations, an occasion that will linger in everyone's memory. This remarkable city, which is one of the rising stars of world tourism, took center stage in welcoming prominent figures from the industry. The award winners represent splendid examples of excellence in tourism and contribute to raising collective standards even higher."

The ceremony, which emphasized Georgia's rapid growth in the tourism sector, awarded many destinations in the country.
Batum was recognized as the "Leading Year-Round Destination in Europe." The Batumi Botanical Garden received the title of "Leading Botanical Garden in Europe." Other awards presented to Georgia included:
- Martvili Canyon - Georgia's Leading Tourist Attraction
- Kolkheti National Park - Georgia's Leading National Park
- Le Méridien Batumi - Georgia's Leading Hotel
- Crowne Plaza Borjomi - Georgia's Leading Resort
- Hilton Batumi - Georgia's Leading Conference Hotel
- Sheraton Batumi Hotel - Georgia's Leading Luxury Hotel
- Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi - Georgia's Leading Design Hotel
- Presidential Suite at The Grand Gloria Hotel - Georgia's Leading Hotel Suite
